Local nature recovery strategies: areas and responsible authorities revealed 📢

Covering the entire country without gaps or overlaps, there are 48 strategy areas across England. These strategies focus on locations where nature recovery is most needed and where it can yield the greatest environmental outcomes.

To ensure effective implementation, the Secretary of State for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs has appointed 'responsible authorities' for each area. These authorities will lead the preparation of strategies and work closely with stakeholders from the public, private, and voluntary sectors.

Their mission is crystal clear: to collaboratively agree on priorities for nature's recovery, identify valuable existing areas for nature, and develop shared proposals for action to restore and protect our precious ecosystems.
