Biofarm is seeking a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic Ecologist to join its growing team and support the development of its Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) delivery business.

Working with the Directors and Non-Executive Directors, the post involves the following:

Key tasks

• Undertaking Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments and Metric Calculations

• Collecting, interpreting and analysing habitat survey data

• Assessing land opportunities on their viability for nature recovery

• Undertaking desk based environment assessments

• Meeting and collaborating with land owners

• Input to Habitat Creation and Enhancement Proposals

• Input to Habitat Management Plans

• Engagement with Local Planning Authorities and other interested parties

• Working with contractors to manage the delivery of habitat creation on the ground

• Ongoing ecological monitoring and land owner engagement

Qualifications and skills

• Ecology / Nature Conservation experience – either from consultancy, regulators, NGOs or local authorities

• A passion for the environment

• An good understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and the workings of Biodiversity Metric

• Ability to carry out habitat surveys (UKHab standard preferred)

• Ideally a level of habitat management and restoration experience

• Ideally a basic level of digital data capture

• Strong report writing and communication skills

• Full driving license

Conditions

• Full-time initially a one year contract

• Salary: c£30,000 pa

• Benefits negotiable

It is expected that the postholder will spend an average of 2 days a week in the Biofarm office in Camden, London.
